Driving Green: New Program

Independent Living (ILI) is joining forces with Madison’s own Community Car to begin delivering Evening Meals on Wheels in an Economical and Environmentally Sustainable manner. Madison Community Foundation facilitated and is providing financial support for the next 3 years to make this nonprofit collaboration possible.

Independent’s Evening Meals on Wheels drivers will have access to the van every weekday afternoon to deliver meals to various distribution locations throughout Madison and Dane County.

This is an economical alternative to ILI purchasing and maintaining a van for use a few hours a week and helps ILI continue it’s focus on “going green.”

Funds Down for March for Meals Campaign

The declining economy is contributing to the roughly 70% decrease in funds raised through our March for Meals campaign.  These funds help subsidize meals for the low income older adults and people with disabilities, our neighbors, in Dane County.  Click here to view the story that shows how important these meals are to one Madison man.
